Music

Introduction

Music has been a very important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started learning the Oboe at age 11 and by the year 2000 I had achieved ABRSM Grade 8. I have also achieved grades in Flute and Piano and currently learning the Saxophone and Clarinet.

I studied Music at both GCSE and A-Level and then went on to study at APU Cambridge and graduated with BA Hons Music Degree in 2005.

Composing

I enjoy composing music in my spare time and for enjoyment. While studying my Music Degree I specialised in Film Composition.

Because of my keen interest in Technology and Computers I have a home recording studio setup for creating music. Since 2003-2010 I have used a Apple Mac and Apple Logic Pro as my main tools. I also use Sibelius notation software to score and compose some of my music.

Only until this year I finally decided that I would change my setup from Logic and use the PC and Reaper. Because nearly all my sounds use Virtual Instruments I have been able to port over my libraries easily from Mac to PC.

My Virtual Instrument Library currently consists of the following:

  • Native Instruments Komplete 6 (Kontakt 4, FM8, Battery 3, Absynth 5, Reaktor 5, Guitar Rig 4 Pro)
  • IK Multimedia Total Workstation (Sampletank 2 XL)
  • IK Multimedia T-Racks Effects
  • BFD2
On the Hardware side of things I use:
  • MAudio Axiom 61 Keyboard Controller
  • Line 6 Toneport UX 2 (as my main audio interface)

One of the advantages of my hardware setup is that it is portable and I can take the Toneport UX2 along with my laptop and play and write music on the go.

Keep checking out this site for any new music I release and to listen to the music I write check out the link here or by clicking on the “Listen to my Music” at the top.
