This weeks photowalk was at Ringstead Lakes
Nice sunny day, no snow on the ground but still some ice on the lake.

Photowalk.1
The first photowalk of the year and the start of my new project.
My plan for the year is to do a photowalk every week for the whole of 2010.
The rules are: they have to be outside my house. Limited to 5 pictures a week.
You can follow the photowalk on flickr here

Coming in to Land:
Manage to get a picture just before she landed.

Red Berries:
Like the way the light caught these and wanted a shallow depth of field.

Swan Lake on Ice:
Love this shot, on a part of the lake that’s still frozen. It captures a real sense of the swans concentration on the ice.
Where as she was flapping her wings quite fast at the time.

Happy New Year 2010!
To celebrate the new year, I decided to do a light painting.
I am not doing new year resolutions but I have set myself a 2 projects.
The first is a 52 Photowalk (taking pictures outdoors once a week for a whole year and recording it here on flickr)
The other is not to do with photography but is very important to me. The past few years I have neglected my music activity. After recent events I hadn’t realized how much I missed playing and was quite an awakening for me.
So my mission is to get back into musical shape (like when I was at uni) and get more involved in playing with groups.

It’s Snowing Again…
It’s started snowing again here and I decided to try out another light painting idea.
This is taken with my Pentax K20D on garden table with 3 inches of snow on.
The K20D is weather sealed which makes it ideal camera and I used my lens hood as the camera sinks in quite a bit into the snow ![]()
Thanks Pentax as I’d never dare do this with my old Nikon D40x.

Build your own NAS box (Part 1)
If you are like me, you will have alot of music, films and documents that you use alot but they are on one computer, bits a pieces on multiple computers. Wouldn’t it be cool to have a central area for your files so you could play your music and films on the Xbox or PS3, access your files from your laptop and download bittorrent files without your main pc. A NAS box is your answer.
What is a NAS box?
In simple terms a NAS box is a computer that acts like a hard drive connected to your network. NAS (Network Attached Storage) lets you share your documents, music, videos with any computer or device in your home.
This is my guide on how to build a NAS box using an opensource project called FreeNAS.
FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD which is a very secure and free operating system.
